FAQ - General

Who is Zichron Internet Marketing and business-lists.com?
Zichron (zi-kron) Internet Marketing (ZIM) is... well... an internet marketing company founded in 2004. business-lists.com is a web service of ZIM which specializes in marketing business database products. In addition to business-lists.com, we also market realtor and lawyer lists at www.real-estate-agent-lists.com and www.lawyer-411.com
What kinds of business databases do you sell?
We sell lists for every SIC classification. You can visit our National List page to view the lists for the major SIC codes (those containing more than 5,000 records. The complete list has been further divided into state and metro area subsets and you can also create a completely customized list. Please visit the business database FAQ page for more questions related to the data.
How do you determine the price of your databases?
The pricing algorithm for all databases is designed to decrease the cost/record as you purchase more records -- smaller databases are more expensive on a cost/record basis, larger databases are less expensive. In addition, records that contain full contact information (address, phone, fax, website, contact name) are assigned a higher value than records that are missing certain contact fields. The minimum price of a list is $25. A database of several hundred records is about $.20 per record. A database of several thousand is about $.05 per record. A database of several hundred thousand records can be less than $.01 per record.
How do you deliver the data once it is purchased?
Your database can be downloaded immediately after purchasing from the order confirmation page. You will also receive an email with download instructions if you wish to download later. All pre-packaged lists are delivered in Microsoft Excel CSV format. Customized lists can be created in Microsoft Access, Excel CSV or Tab-Delimited Text. All files are compressed in a Zip format for faster downloading.
What guarantee do you give on the quality of the your databases?
The data is guaranteed to be 95% accurate. If you receive "undeliverables" (bad address, phone, or fax) exceeding 5%, we will refund your purchase on a pro-rated basis.
What are the restrictions on the use of the databases?
The "terms of use" agreement always appears on the checkout page but can be summarized simply as follows: the purchaser is entitled to use the data repeatedly for marketing or internal purposes but cannot resell the data nor publish it so that non-customers can benefit from the data.
Do you provide free samples of your data?
Yes, there are two ways you can sample our data. First, you can use our business search engine to look up records. Second, you can download a free sample of up to 100 records for any SIC Code and state. Additionally, you can also use our customized database tool to create, purchase, and download a smaller, less expensive list before purchasing a larger list. If you later decide to purchase a larger list, of which the smaller list is a subset, we will give you a full credit towards the puchase of the larger list. Likewise, if you purchase a state or metro area list, you can upgrade to the corresponding complete national list for the difference in price.
Do you provide customer references?
Yes, we have a list of satisfied customers that we would be happy to refer you to. Please also visit our testimonials page.
Do you broadcast faxes? direct mail?
We do not send faxes or direct mail; we only sell the data.
What is the law for sending faxes?
We recommend you read the following FCC document describing the regulation of faxing. As a matter of practice, we have never had a customer complain of legal difficulties resulting from sending faxes using our lists. Again, this is likely because you are not sending "junk"; even if the recipient is not interested in your product or service, at least it was a solicitation related to their profession.

Obligatory Disclaimer: If you are in doubt as to the legality of any business activity, including broadcasting faxes, you should consult a qualified attorney.
Where did the name "Zichron" come from?
Zichron is short for Zichron Ya'acov, a small village in Israel, which has a special place in our hearts. In Hebrew, Zichron means "memory" or "memorial", which perhaps is not a bad thing for a company that specializes in data!
